A.C.E. AWARD FOR 2006

National award presented by the Association of Accounting Administration and CPA Practice Management Forum recognizes excellence and leadership in public accounting firm management

Baltimore, MD—Katz, Abosch, Windesheim, Gershman & Freedman, P.A. (KAWG&F) is pleased to announce that Arlene Ciroula, the firm’s chief operating officer, has received the 2006 A.C.E. Award. The award is co-sponsored by the Association of Accounting Administration and CPA Practice Management Forum magazine.

The A.C.E. Award (Achievement, Commitment and Excellence) focuses on leadership and the individual’s strategic impact on firm profit and growth. As the 2006 recipient of the national award, Ciroula was honored at the Association of Accounting Administration’s annual meeting in Indianapolis in June.

Ciroula joined KAWG&F in 2003 to serve as the firm’s Director of Administration and Marketing and within two years was promoted to the position of chief operating office. In 2004, she spearheaded a major technology conversion at KAWG&F to accommodate the firm’s three offices and more than 90 individuals working remotely. Due to her efforts, KAWG&F has been recognized on a local and national level as an innovator within the accounting industry. In 2005, Practical Accountant Magazine honored the firm with its “Innovation Award.” In 2004, Ciroula orchestrated and managed the relocation of KAWG&F’s headquarters from Towson to Timonium, as well as the relocation of the firm’s two satellite offices in Bel Air and Columbia to new office spaces. Ciroula developed a firm-wide succession planning protocol in 2005 encompassing all professional levels to meet future client needs.

Shortly after arriving at the firm, Ciroula oversaw the establishment of the “ KAWG&F University ”, a state-of-the-art training and conference center. The University is staffed by a training coordinator who manages the firm’s continuing professional education (CPE) program and offers partner organizations the opportunity to host seminars and conferences in an educational setting.

“KAWG&F is quite proud of Arlene Ciroula receiving the prestigious A.C.E. Award that recognizes the impact she has had within our firm,” stated Alvin D. Katz, CPA, president and chief executive officer of KAWG&F. “Since joining the firm three years ago, she has championed several significant technology conversions and administrative policies that enable the firm to better meet the needs of clients and increase client satisfaction.”
